Spyro - Cynder Afternoon Chat by Rovas117 Spyro - Cynder Afternoon Chat by Rovas117
Here's another one!

Another picture of Spyro and Cynder. I decided to do some fanart for a while, and here's what came out of my mind. If you can't recognize the background, that's supposed to be the Dragon Temple.

*sigh*

Backgrounds WILL FOREVER BE the DEATH of me. :iconsadplz: And yes, that green plane they are on is grass. Or supposed to be grass. I purposedly did that on purpose because grass is so freaking hard to replicate. If you ONLY KNOW. My gas, it's freaking hard. And as you can also see, I am trying a new style when it comes to eyes!

Is it good? Bad? C'mon guys, critique me! LOL.

Anyways, what do you guys think? What should I improve? Are my drawing skills improving or not?

This drawing sketch was finished on 1/9/10 and lineart and coloring was completely done on 1/14/10

Made possible by:
My Sketch-Notebook
Pencil and Eraser (I don't have a tablet like some)
Photoshop CS3 and a Computer Mouse.

You need to add more detail to their rear paws. More shadows and highlights would do the work, also make rear paws thinner. Fingers on the front paws should be bigger, you have an unused space between them. Cynder's tail needs some polishing up to do too: it's size should decrease from body to the tail tip, and you have it enlarged where it makes a turn to the grass. Also, i can see you used just the mouse to do the shadows, try using pen tool to create a path, and then stroke it with brun and dodge toold, or just with darker color if you're not familiar with dodge/burn much. If you're not familiar with pen tool either, you might want to check the tutorials for using it, because when you try using it for the first time, you can even understand, what to do with it, but you can master it in a day or two. It really helps people, who don't own a tablet to draw lines, that they have in mind...i hope, something of this helps you ;)

Well, bad stuff first, Spyros smile is a little... big. make the curve a vit more shallow, not as far up the face and you'll be golden.

Now for the ugly. If you have photoshop, I'd have to fidle with it a while to get you the step-by-step, but there's a grass brush where you just drag the mouse around and it does grass for you.

Now the good!:la: I love the new eye style! it's epic. Remember that Cynders proportions are going to be thinner everywhere because she's female, it makes her feminity more obvious.

I like her face, she's like O_O

I'll tell you what I told a couple other freinds, complex backgrounds take the veiwers attention away from the subject, a background is always nice, but a simple one is almost always best. Look at a lot of epic Spyro art, it's often a dragon with a simple backdrop of some earth and a sky. Your submission for Alecs contest is an absolutly perfect background.

Other than that, try making their horns look more like they're growing from their heads instead of just kinda there, use concave curves on the base to give them a 3d look, and the tail tips could be a bit bigger.

All in all, It's very good. When I first saw this in my inbox, I didn't even know it was you until I saw your logo, it's such a sudden improvement I didn't recognize your style.

Keep it up and always strive to better yourself!

1. Okay, I'll do better next time with his smile. I did just base the smile off some references I saw of him with THAT kind of smile.

2. I know about the grass brush and know how to make grass. I was the one who made the grass at my submission to Alec's contest. I just didn't make the grass here because it was SUCH A PAIN.

3. So...does Cynder look female?

4. Cynder's supposed to be smiling as well, but for some reason, in the final output of the image, the lineart glitched and can't be seen unless zoomed in.

5. I've always HAD (and probably WILL HAVE) problems with horns, proportionality and point of view of it. Any tutorials you can show me for horns? And BTW, once again, I just based the horns of references. Cynder's horns are SUCH A PAIN.

6. As for the tail tips, I thought they were alright. LOL. Because when I tried making them bigger, it seemed un-proportional.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE SUPPORT!

Tutorial? HA I AM the tutorial! Trollololol! I'll make one for you.

She certainly looks more femine than when I first drew her, she looked like a black Spyro...

Also, My sister said she's gay, she likes guys.:iconblueskittles97:
